This evening, I had the privilege of once again attending a remarkable event — the official launch of a new book authored by the inspiring young Hafsa Abdullahi Athar from Wajir County. Hosted at a Nairobi hotel, the occasion marked the unveiling of her third book titled “The Reward is Greater Than The Test.”
Hafsa is not only a gifted writer but also the CEO of Hashnaz Express Bakes, a thriving business she founded at such a young age. Her consistent determination to pursue both entrepreneurship and literature is nothing short of exceptional.
This event wasn’t just a book launch — it was a powerful statement of possibility. The room was filled with eager university and college students, each taking in the moment with admiration and curiosity. I was particularly moved seeing my daughters — Tasneem, Ilham, and Zeynab — attend with me. Witnessing them draw inspiration from a young woman who is turning dreams into reality was truly heartwarming.
Yes, The Reward is Greater Than The Test — and Hafsa is living proof of that.
During my remarks, I took the opportunity to challenge the youth on a few key points:
- Spend less time on non-productive activities.
- Explore and maximize your God-given talents.
- Use social media positively — not as a distraction, but as a tool for growth.
I also stressed the importance of supporting our youth in making informed career choices, nurturing their talents, and encouraging participation in meaningful community initiatives.
Hafsa’s journey reminds us that age is never a barrier to purpose. Her voice, her vision, and her ventures are shaping a brighter future for herself — and for the many young people she continues to inspire.
