I dream of a Northern Frontier where leadership is chosen on the strength of merit, not the weight of connections. A region where the tendering process is truly open, not one where whispers of a “10% upfront” deal poison integrity before a single document is signed. We can have counties where competence defeats mediocrity, where projects are delivered on time and to standard because those entrusted with them earned the right to serve.
In my vision, service delivery is not treated as a political gift, but as a constitutional right. Our people should not be made to clap for the opening of a borehole as though it were a personal favor from a leader. Water, hospitals, schools, and roads are not luxuries, they are lifelines. No child should sit in a classroom without a desk while millions vanish in mismanaged funds. No mother should walk miles for clean water while officials throw parties with the people’s money.
The End of Silence and Complacency
For too long, we have been told to remain silent. We have been conditioned to accept substandard leadership because “that’s how it has always been.” But I say this, the time for silence, complacency, and blind loyalty is over. Leaders are not kings to be obeyed without question; they are servants entrusted with public resources, and they must answer for how they use them.
Blind loyalty has cost us dearly. We defend leaders because they share our clan name or speak our dialect, even when they fail us. This must end. Our loyalty should be to truth, justice, and the common good, never to individuals who betray the trust we have placed in them.
Accountability, Transparency, and Equity
Accountability means setting clear expectations for our leaders and holding them to those standards. Transparency means the public knows how money is spent and who benefits from it. Equity means that resources are shared fairly, so no community is left behind because it lacks political influence.
We must build systems where every tender is evaluated on skill, track record, and value, not on who can deliver the largest kickback. We must create an environment where whistleblowers are protected, not punished. And we must reward leaders who deliver beyond expectations, not those who simply talk the loudest.
Unity Over Division
Our progress depends on unity. Division, by clan, religion, or political faction, has been used to weaken us. While we quarrel among ourselves, opportunities are stolen and resources are misused. We must come together around a shared vision: fair distribution of resources, infrastructure that lasts, and opportunities for every child, regardless of birthplace.
Unity will not erase our differences, but it will allow us to use them as strengths. When we speak as one people, we cannot be ignored. When we act as one, we cannot be stopped.
Turning Vision into Reality
This vision is not a distant dream, it is a possibility within reach. But it will require courage, persistence, and collective action. We must choose action over apathy, integrity over corruption, unity over division.
We owe it to the young boy studying under a tree, to the mother waiting at an empty clinic, to the farmer whose crops have withered for lack of water. We owe it to ourselves to demand better, to expect better, and to build better.
The Northern Frontier we deserve is one where dignity is protected, opportunities are earned, and leadership is defined by service, not power.
