Prof. Mohamed Abdinoor Dahir is a distinguished Kenyan educationist and transformational leader whose career spans over three decades of shaping educational policy, disaster resilience, and humanitarian strategy across East Africa. Currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Kenya (IUK), Prof. Dahir is recognized for his unique ability to bridge the gap between academic excellence and grassroots community resilience.
A native of Wajir, Northern Kenya, Prof. Dahir’s journey began in the classroom and ascended to the highest levels of executive leadership within global NGOs and government advisory roles. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Education for Africa (EFA) and a Faculty member in Disaster Resilience Leadership at the United Nations University for Peace – Africa Program.
Prof. Dahir’s leadership has been internationally lauded; he is a Distinguished Fellow of the Africa Institute of Public Administration (DFAI) and a recipient of the prestigious Paul Kagame Transformational Leadership Medal of Honor. His academic foundations are equally robust, holding a PhD in Leadership & Management from the Management University of East Africa, an MSc in Project Management from Salford University (UK), and an Executive Master’s in Education Leadership & Policy from Moi University.
Throughout his career, Prof. Dahir has spearheaded multi-million-dollar programs for premier global organizations, including USAID, the World Bank, UNFAO, and the European Union. His tenure includes pivotal roles such as:
1. Chief of Party for USAID PROGRESS (Somalia)
2. Head of Office for Catholic Relief Services (Uganda)
3. Head of Disaster Management for the Kenya Red Cross Society
Prof. Dahir remains a leading voice in education reform, climate resilience, and peacebuilding, dedicated to empowering the next generation of African professionals through skills development and sustainable governance.
